Maungatapere Berries are working hard to ensure that we grow and pack our berries with the smallest possible environmental impact. There are a number of ways in which we are doing this.

As part of our contribution to environmental sustainability, we have made the decision to move away from traditional plastic-based packaging and will be introducing our brand-new compostable bio-plastic packaging during the 2018/2019 season. The packaging is made from plant material with no oil used in the process at all, which means that the source material is fully renewable. This decision was made to give our consumers the comfort that in buying Maungatapere Berries products they are also not doing it at a cost to the planet.

We use as few sprays as possible on our berryfruit. We try to use natural, organic, biological or creative controls in order to deal with insect, pest or diseases, and we choose to use organic/biologically approved sprays when the plants are producing fruit, and only use conventional sprays when the plants are out of production.
